Your Counsellor
Hi,
My name is Manpreet …
I’m a registered clinical counsellor who provides mental health support to our community members. This includes all people of colour and genders.
I am someone who believes that creating a stronger community starts with the individual. We all go through pain and suffering in our lifetime and it’s so important to have a safe space to unpack, understand, heal, learn and recover.
You deserve a safe space.
I understand the importance of trust building, compassion, knowledge and bravery in our work. I bring my experience, personality, expertise, and warmth to each session to assist you with your goals.
I’ve been both volunteering and working in the mental health field for the last 15 years. I started by helping youth in our community through The City of Surrey programs. Then, I created a non-for-profit organization to fund scholarships to our community’s youth. Moreover, I worked as a Program Coordinator for Adam’s Apples Foundation to raise awareness on suicide prevention and facilitated multiple programs to help build healthy communities within over 45 schools. I later worked with refugees and immigrants to help them smoothly adapt to Canadian society in addition to helping them process their trauma. Finally, I was a Vocational Counsellor for WorkBC to help people with mental health limitations gain meaningful employment.
Five years ago, I started my own counselling business in Surrey, BC. I’ve helped hundreds of people overcome suicidal thoughts, strengthen their self-esteem, process their trauma to experience joy again, grow, and find meaning in life. I’ve been helping people manage their anxiety, depression, and trauma. I’ve held space for people who’ve lost loved ones and experienced deep heartbreak. I support people work through pain and emotions. I assist in navigating the uncertainties of life.
Throughout all of this, I went to school to obtain my Bachelor’s in Psychology, Associates in Cultural Anthropology, and Masters of Counselling Psychology degrees. I completed my EMDR training and I am now completing my training for Somatic Trauma Healing.
You are important and I create room for all parts of you to be seen, heard, and understood. I view people as brave, resilient, and capable. Many of us are bogged down by pain and the challenges of life.
I see you and I’m here to work with you. Going through life can be difficult but you don’t have to do it alone.
I look forward to connecting with you soon!
